If you have been in to the taproom lately, you have probably had the pleasure of meeting our new taproom manager, Eddie Miller. A seasoned veteran in the service industry, Eddie takes a lot of pride in providing exceptional service and educating customers on Kindred's many beer styles. Get to know him a bit better below!
Name: Eddie Miller
Special Talents or Hobbies: I’m a big golfer and within the last few years have really gotten into cycling. Neither competitively, but both things make me feel like a kid when I’m doing them. I’ve got a bunch of guitars that I don’t play enough, but have been playing since high school. I’m a HUGE Cleveland sports fan. The Browns (unfortunately) are probably my favorite team in any sport to any capacity. I grew up within walking distance of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, so football has always been a big deal in my family.
Beer I'm Drinking Right Now: Bell's Hopslam because it’s seasonal. Not on the bandwagon though, been drinking that since 06’.
Favorite Kindred Beer: Probably the Waves, but I haven’t had a chance to try the Golden Strong yet. Once the sours come out I’m sure that will change again. Pat, our mad scientist, is brewing up gold back there!
Best Beer I've Ever Had: Three Floyds Dark Lord Russian Imperial Stout from 2012. I’ve had a lot of really good beers, but that’s the only time I’ve had it and I can still remember it.
Favorite Ohio Beer: This is a tough one because I love Ohio beer. There’s great stuff all over the state. Maybe one of the reserves of Hoppin’ Frog or Thirsty Dog. Bourbon Barrel Siberian Night or a Barrel Aged BORIS. I’m biased because I’m a Northeast Ohio kid, so I love anything that comes from my neck of the woods. From Cleveland to Cincinnati and all the little towns in between, you’re all doing great things for the beer community not just in Ohio, but everywhere you reach out to. Keep keepin' it real!
People Might Also Know Me From: I worked for Mad Mex for 9 years through college and some time after. I credit most, if not all, of my bartending knowledge from that place.
Reason I Love My Job: I love my job for the free beer. Kidding. I studied people for 6 years at OSU. I double majored in Sociology & Criminology so being in a setting that I can meet new people every day and pick their brains is always something I’ve enjoyed doing. I’ve never met anyone that I didn’t have some sort of common ground or shared interest with. Bartending is more of a passion to me than a job. So, being able to do that while managing the taproom and making it my own was very appealing to me. I’ve worked very hard over the years managing a bunch of different venues, but this is the first time that I’m THE manager and not the assistant to the manager. So, given the opportunity and responsibility to not only keep the taproom running efficiently, but also challenged to make it better is something I’ve worked towards for a long time.
